There are a couple of Wandering Monks around the Middlefern area, as well as one positioned just outside the entrance to the Undercroft Dungeon. Peaceful in appearance but shrouded in mystery, these monks may hold clues or connections to deeper lore within HighSpell.

Conversations edit

Wandering Monk: Greetings  |  Are you new around these parts?
Player: Yep I'm fresh of the boat
Wandering Monk: Boat? What boat?  |  Anyways, since you're new, how about I offer you some advice
Player: Sure I could use some advice
Wandering Monk: Great  |  Well then, if you're looking to make some money, I recommend picking up a pickaxe and mining some copper and tin ore  |  Then you can smelt them into bronze bars, which in turn can be smithed into a variety of items  |  Afterwards, you can sell them to shops or other players
     Player: Thanks for the advice!
       Wandering Monk: My pleasure
Player: Thanks, got any more advice?
Wandering Monk: Let's see...  |  Oh, you can also find a sword and start killing some cows or chickens  |  But as a pacific monk, I advise against that
       Player: Cool thanks
Player: If you advise against it why'd you give me that advice
         Wandering Monk: Good question
   Player: Not interested old man
     Wandering Monk: Very well
Player: No I've been here for ages
Wandering Monk: Ah, I see  |  Well then, have a good day
Wandering Monk: Careful heading out west, you'll find many aggressive monsters  |  Goblins in particular, they tend to run around in packs
Player: Thanks for the heads up
Player: I'm not afraid of a couple of goblins
Wandering Monk: You know how to create scrolls, right?
 Player: Yep I already know
Wandering Monk: Don't you just carve them out of logs using a chisel?  |  Then you can use them on a magical obelisk to enchant them!
 Player: No
Wandering Monk: Why, you just carve them out of logs using a chisel  |  Then you can use them on a magical obelisk to enchant them!
Wandering Monk: Are you here to make your way through the Undercroft passages?
 Player: Yes
Wandering Monk: I wish you a safe passage
   Player: Thanks
Player: Why? Is it dangerous in here?
Wandering Monk: Don't you know?  |  There are dangerous creatures lurking in here, and the only way to continue on deeper is to defeat them  |  There are escape passages scattered about, as well as undtold treasures to be found...
Player: Sounds like my kind of adventure
Wandering Monk: However I must warn you  |  Once you enter, you may not be able to escape alive...
     Player: I'll be very careful
       Wandering Monk: Very well...
     Player: Dangerous creatures?
Wandering Monk: Yes, and some are said to be quite strong...  |  Or so the rumours go
 Player: No
 Player: Undercroft?
Wandering Monk: Yes, you are at the entrance of the Undercroft  |  There are dangerous creatures lurking in here, and the only way to continue on deeper is to defeat them  |  There are escape passages scattered about, as well as undtold treasures to be found...
   Player: Oh I like treasure
Wandering Monk: Of course...  |  And it is said, the deeper you venture, the better the reward...
   Player: I'll be very careful
     Wandering Monk: Very well...
   Player: Dangerous creatures?
Wandering Monk: Yes, and some are said to be quite strong...  |  Or so the rumours go
