Athletics is the seventeenth skill added to HighSpell.

Levelling the Athletics skill improves the regeneration rate of your Stamina, allowing you to Sprint longer distances. It also unlocks various shortcuts scattered across the game world, allowing for faster traversal.

Sprinting[edit]

Athletics directly affects how long you can sprint, and how long your stamina takes to regenerate. A higher Athletics level lets you sprint for longer and recover faster.

Training[edit]

Obstacle Courses can be found around the map to train your Athletics skill.

Kabe Plateau Obstacle Course[edit]

The Kabe Plateau Obstacle Course is the first course, available at level 1. It can be found by travelling due north from the wheat field in Middlefern, up to where the Mead River meets the Cyan River.

A full completion of the course yields 105 XP, and can be completed in around 55 seconds.

Swamp Obstacle Course[edit]

The Swamp Obstacle Course is the second course that is accessible at level 25. It can be found by taking the west exit from Celadon City, heading south, then travelling westward along the river that borders the Wastelands

Unlike the Kabe Plateau Obstacle Course, it is possible to fall off some obstacles on the Swamp course, specifically the stepping stones, rock walls, and log. You take 2 damage for falling off an obstacle. Falling appears to happen less often with a higher Athletics level.

A full completion of the course yields 265 XP, and can be completed in around 65 seconds (without falling).

Mount Tan Obstacle Course[edit]

The Mount Tan Obstacle Course is the third course that is accessible from level 50, built into the eastern face of Mount Tan. It can be found by leaving Cairn and walking west, straight toward the mountain.

Shortcuts[edit]

Various shortcuts can be found around the map, providing more direct routes between areas. They require specific Athletics levels to use.

Some shortcuts (rocks, logs) can be randomly failed, causing you to fall and take 2 damage. You don't gain XP when falling off obstacles, but you can still travel the shortcut depending on the direction you intended to travel: for example, falling while descending a rock shortcut will still leave you at the bottom of the shortcut.
