Dew is the sole developer of HighSpell.[1] He is responsible for the game's design, coding, art, and content updates—making HighSpell a true one-person MMO project. His in-game developer account, also named Dew, has level 100 in all skills but does not appear on the public HiScores.

He goes by Dew on the official HighSpell Discord, and posts updates and development news under u/dewdrinkr on Reddit.

Development Background

According to early Reddit posts[2], Dew began development of HighSpell around 2018–2019 as a personal project inspired by the now-defunct RuneScape Classic (RSC). A long-time RSC player himself, Dew noticed there were few, if any, serious attempts to recapture the unique feel of classic browser-based MMOs. This led him to begin working on his own game, using 3D environments with 2D sprites and point-and-click gameplay.

Dew initially worked on HighSpell while balancing a full-time job, often putting in an additional 20–30 hours per week on development. He continued development even through a major life change—moving from China back to the U.S.—and took a short break before preparing the first live test server.

As of today, HighSpell remains an active and growing MMO with regular content updates and a small but dedicated player base. Dew continues to handle all development and server maintenance himself.

It is unknown what Dew's current job status is, though it is assumed that he still works a full-time job alongside development.
