Hedgecastle is very close to the mine inside the Dwarf Caverns. This makes it an ideal place for banking ores from the mine. There is also a furnace and anvil which makes it ideal for smithing the ores once you have mined them. Not only is Hedgecastle great for mining and smithing, but it also has a fire very close to the Bank making it great for cooking. There are Pine Trees around which make it decent for Forestry training. There is a number of chests to be looted in Hedgecastle as well depending on your Crime level.
There are many Guard (Lvl 10), Squire, and Knight (Lvl 45) around to protect Hedgecastle, so there is no need to worry about safety issues.

A fast way of traveling to Hedgecastle is to cast Hedgecastle Teleport at level 24 Magic.
